How to create awesome stickers in Procreate

If you’ve ever thought, “Wouldn’t it be fun to turn my doodles into stickers?”—you’re absolutely right. Stickers are one of my favourite little side projects in Procreate. They’re quick, playful, and honestly addictive once you get started. Plus, they make great gifts, are fun for social media, and can even turn into products for your shop.

Here’s my simple process for making stickers in Procreate.

Set Up Your Canvas

I usually start with a square canvas (around 30 cm x 30 cm pixels at 300 DPI). The high resolution means your stickers will print crisp and clean, whether you’re making them for home printing or uploading to a print-on-demand site.

Tip: Keep each sticker design on its own canvas—it’ll make exporting and resizing so much easier later.

Draw Your Design

This is the fun part! Sketch out your sticker idea, then ink and colour it like you would any other Procreate illustration. Stickers work best when they’re bold, simple, and easy to “read” at a small size.

I try to avoid super fine details, because once a sticker is shrunk down, they can get lost. Think chunky line work, strong colours, and playful shapes.

Add a White Border (Sticker Outline)

Most stickers have that classic white border around them. Here’s how I do it in Procreate:

  1. Once your design is finished, create a new layer underneath your artwork.

  2. Fill the design shape with white (or another border colour if you want to be fancy).

  3. Use the Selection Tool > Automatic, tap your design, and expand the selection a little (around 10–30 pixels, depending on the look you want).

  4. Fill this selection with white—ta-da! Instant sticker border.

Export as PNG

Stickers need a transparent background, so make sure you turn off the background layer before exporting. Then go to Share > PNG. That way, only your sticker design and its border will be visible.

If you’re making a whole sheet of stickers, you can import all your individual PNGs into one larger canvas and arrange them together before printing.

Print or Upload

From here, you can either:

  • Print them at home using sticker paper and a Cricut or Silhouette machine.

  • Send the PNG files to an online printer.

  • Upload them to sites like Redbubble or Etsy for print-on-demand stickers.

I personally love uploading to print-on-demand—it means my designs are out there in the world without me having to cut and post them myself.

Why I Love Sticker Making

There’s something so satisfying about holding a physical sticker that started as a little doodle on my iPad. Stickers are like tiny pieces of art—they don’t take long to make, but they bring so much joy. And once you start making them, I guarantee you won’t stop at just one.
