Why I Offer Free Resources on This Website for My Picture Books

If you’ve been exploring my website, you might have noticed the freebies section — colouring pages, activity sheets, and teaching guides that pair with my picture books.
I often get asked, “Why give these away for free?” The truth is, it’s something I feel really strongly about.

Supporting Teachers and Parents

As an illustrator and picture book creator, I know my books often end up in classrooms and homes where they’re used for more than just storytime. Teachers want to connect books to literacy, art, or social-emotional learning. Parents love having activities that extend the reading experience. Free resources make that possible and accessible for everyone.

Extending the Story Beyond the Page

A picture book is magical in itself, but I love when the story keeps going. A colouring page, a writing prompt, or a craft idea can spark a child’s imagination in new directions.
It turns a ten-minute read into an afternoon of creativity, play, and learning!

Building A Community Around My Work

Sharing free resources also creates a bridge between me, the reader, and the wider reading community.
It’s my way of saying, “Thanks for supporting my books — here’s something extra.” I want to create more than just stories; I want to contribute to a space where creativity is shared and celebrated.

A Gift of Optimism

Living here in Perth as a freelance illustrator, I’ve built my practice on optimism — the belief that small things can make a big difference. Offering free resources feels like a simple, hopeful act. A way to share a little extra joy and spark inspiration in teachers lives.

I’ll always love the process of illustrating picture books, but I also believe in giving readers more ways to connect with them.
Free resources are my way of keeping the stories alive, meaningful, and fun — long after the last page is turned.

Hey, there! I’m Jasmine Berry, a freelance illustrator based in sunny Perth, Western Australia. Most days you’ll find me sketching away on my iPad or surrounded by pencils and cats, chasing new ideas. I like to think of myself as eternally optimistic—always seeing the fun, the colour, and the possibility in every project I take on. Send me a message if you would like to collaborate on a project.
